ROK star Sung Ji Hyun came very close to beating China’s Wang Yi Han in the women’s singles final. In the second half of the first game Sung took 12 points to Wang’s 1 to take the game. Wang came out for the second game showing admirable fighting spirit and was able to take the second game by making a series of return shots of great difficulty and playing a succession of tricky shots along the side lines. In the deciding game, Sung took a 17-13 lead but was forced by Wang’s clever play in front of the net to repeatedly hit the shuttlecock into the air, putting her in a passive position time and time again. In the end Wang took the game to take the match 21-16, 18-21, 20-22.

In the men’s singles “Badminton King” Lee Chong Wei was no match on the day for the attacking play of China’s Chen Long but went down fighting 24-22,21-19. In the final of the women’s doubles, China’s Bao Yi Xin／Tang Jin Hua were up against local girls Christinna／Kamilla. Bao／Tang put in a flawless show throughout the match and took it 21-16、21-13 without giving the Danes any chance at all, leaving the home fans disappointed. Full article at Denmark Open Final
