Indonesian pair, and last year’s winners, AHMAD/NASTIR were up against China’s Zhang Nan/Zhao Yun Lei in the final of the mixed doubles at the All-England Open Badminton Championship 2013. AHMAD/NASTIR were able to control the rhythm of the match throughout and it was a surprisingly one-sided affair, the Indonesian's taking the match in straight games 21-13, 21-17 to claim their second All-England mixed doubles title in a row.

AHMAD/NASTIR claim their second All-England mixed doubles title

Last year’s winners AHMAD/NASTIR were up against the London Olympic champions Zhang Nan/Zhao Yun Lei in the mixed doubles final. It was widely believed beforehand that, with both pairs being top pairs in the world and closely-matched, their duel would be fiercely contested and close, however, as it turned out the Indonesians played brilliantly, dominating both serve and receipt of serve, and were on the attack for much of the match.

All England:Day 4-As expected, Lee Chong Wei to face Chen Long in the men’s single final

The audience was served up a treat when the semi-finals took place at the All-England Open Badminton Championships 2013 yesterday. In the most mouthwatering “dishes”, two Indonesian pairs Ahmad/Natsir and Kido/Zebadiah fought it out in the mixed doubles and Tine Baun/ Sung Ji Hyun put on an exciting show in the women’s singles semi-finals. In the end Ahmad/Natsir went through to the final 18-21,21-15,21-19 after a hard fought match; Tine Baun also overcame Sung Ji Hyun 21-19 in the deciding game of a fiercely-contested clash that Sung Ji Hyun could also have won

Ahmad/Natsir
In their mixed doubles semi-final Ahmad/Natsir dropped the first game, but the experienced pair  stood firm under the pressure and proceeded to take the next two games to send Kido/Zebadiah packing. They may be reigning Al-England mixed doubles champions but Ahmad/Natsir can’t rest on their laurels in the slightest in their next match because they will go head to head with China’s formidable Zhang Nan/Zhao Yun Lei, the gold medalists at last year’s Olympics.........Full Article

All England:Day 3-All eyes on who will be women’s single queen at the All-England?

The four top seeds in the women’s singles all overcame tough opposition in the quarter-finals of the All-England Open Badminton Championships to reach the semis. Either Saina Nehwal (India), Inthanon Ratchanok (Thailand,) Sung Ji Hyun (South Korea) or Tine Baun (Denmark) will take the title this year. This is the last tournament before Baun retires and she is bound to be keener than ever to take home the All-England crown once more to bring her career to the perfect end.
Sung Ji Hyun
In the quarter-final match between Sung Ji Hyun and Hirose Eriko, the former extended her winning streak against her Japanese opponent to five matches, claiming a relatively easy 21-13,21-12 win; she can now expect a tougher match when she faces Denmark’s top women’s singles player Tine Baun in her swansong event.
Baun has chosen to bow out as a professional at this tournament so she has prepared thoroughly mentally and physically, as evidenced by the fact that she hasn’t dropped a single game so far in her three matches to date. In the six matches played between Baun and Sung Ji Hyun previously, Baun has won five so if the Korean wants to win she will have to change her tactics.
The Indonesian team has shown impressive power in the mixed doubles. The top pair Ahmad/Natsir beat Polish opponents, while the second pair Rijal/Susanto came from behind to beat the No. 1 seeds Xu Chen/Ma Jin........Full Article

The finals of the German Open-Well played! South Korea takes two doubles titles at the German Open!

South Korean team’s doubles pair played brilliantly in the finals of the German Open Grand Prix Gold 2013. First Kim Ha Na/ Jung Kyung Eun fought back to overcome China’s Ma Jin/ Tang Jin Hua in the women’s doubles. Shortly after, in the mixed doubles, Shin Baek Choel/ Jang Yi Na took the second title for the South Korean team, showing great tenacity and will to win to beat Denmark’s highly rated Kristiansen/ Houmann 21-19, 19-21,24-22.

In the first game Kim Ha NaJung Kyung Eun had no answer to Ma’s nimble distribution and Tang’s attacks from the back of court, going down 11-21. After changing ends, Kim was reminded by her coach to be more aggressive in front of the net to win back control of play and she did just that. In the second and third games the Chinese attacking play was neutralized and Kim/ Jung took them 21-14 and 21-13 to take the match two games to one. This was their second international tournament win after taking the title at the Indian Open Super Series four years ago.
