South Korean players performed very well in the semi-finals of the Swiss Open Grand Prix Gold 2013. In the men’s doubles, Ko Sung Hyun/ Lee Yong Dae beat England’s ADCOCK/ELLIS 21-19,21-19 in a close game. Two South Korean pairs also reached the final in the women’s doubles: Lee So Hee/ Shin Seung Chan beat Malaysian opposition in straight games; shortly after, Jung Kyung Eun/ Kim Ha Na beat JUHL/PEDERSEN of Denmark by the same margin, the results meaning that South Korea is guaranteed to take the title and runner-up spot in the women’s doubles at the Swiss Open.
Ko/ Lee were up against England’s in-form pair ADCOCK/ ELLIS. The two sides engaged in some fierce exchanges in mid-court. Ko/ Lee maintained a narrow lead and were unable to shake off their tenacious opponents, both games ending 21-19.
