Badminton King Lee Chong Wei sets a brilliant record as he takes his 10th Malaysian Open single title
Boleh (Viva) Malaysia! The cheers of the
ecstatic crowd filled Putra Indoor Stadium in Kuala Lumpur as Malaysia’s
badminton king Lee Chong Wei beat Indonesia’s Tommy Sugiarto in straight games
to take his 10th Malaysia Open men’s singles title.
This wasn’t the only reason for the home crowd
to be happy, as local pair Lim Khim Wah/Goh V Shem also took the title in the
men’s doubles. So overjoyed were they at the moment of victory that they held
their arms in the arm and howled with delight. This was the pair’s first time in
a Super Series final; in the first round they knocked out Boe/Mogensen who took
the title last week at the Korea Open. With a score of 21-19, 21-18, in the
final they overcame China’s unseeded pair Chai Biao/Hong Wei.
